Come Close. Come Alive.

Revival Starts Here • Part 4 • John 15:1–11
We can own a Bible, know the songs, and attend worship every week while allowing our fellowship with Jesus to grow distant. Our prayers become hurried. Our Bibles stay closed. Familiar routines continue, but our hearts feel tired.
In John 15, Jesus gives us a picture of where spiritual life comes from: He is the true vine, His Father is the gardener, and we are the branches. A branch bears fruit because it remains connected to the source of its life.
His invitation reaches into our everyday lives: Come close. Come alive.
Remain in Christ
A branch cannot manufacture life by trying harder. It receives life from the vine.
Remaining in Christ means living in a relationship of trust and dependence. We bring Him our needs, submit our choices to Him, and rely on His strength throughout the day.
Yesterday’s closeness cannot replace today’s fellowship. Make room to turn your attention to Jesus. Read Scripture, pray honestly, and carry what you read into the decisions ahead.
Jesus also teaches that the Father prunes fruitful branches. God may expose pride, challenge a protected priority, or reveal a habit that needs to change. We cannot explain every painful experience, but we can trust His care and invite Him to shape us.
Ask: “Father, what needs to change so that my life bears more fruit?” Then take one concrete step of surrender.
Receive His Word
Drawing close to God involves listening. Jesus connects remaining in Him with allowing His words to remain in us.
Scripture needs a home in our hearts. As we read, reflect, and respond, its truth begins shaping our decisions and prayers. We learn to ask for patience, holiness, courage, and opportunities to serve, while continuing to bring God our practical needs and deepest concerns.
Receiving His Word means allowing it to direct us. When Scripture calls us toward forgiveness, honesty, or prayer, we respond in our choices.
For the next seven days, read John 15:1–11 and ask:
What does this passage show me about Jesus?
What needs to change in my life?
What should I pray because of what I have read?
Choose one truth to carry through the day. Give God’s Word enough attention to move from the page into your life.
Respond in Love
Jesus begins with His love for His disciples. Our obedience responds to that love; we do not earn His love through a spiritual checklist.
Love for Christ becomes visible in ordinary actions: how we speak to our family, handle money, serve others, and follow Him when obedience costs us something.
What step do you already know you need to take? Make the apology. Tell the truth. Seek help with a hidden habit. Serve someone you have overlooked.
Where serious harm has occurred, forgiveness can include wise boundaries and support from trusted people.
Jesus connects this life of love and obedience with fullness of joy. His joy can sustain us through sorrow and difficulty as we walk closely with Him.
Let Revival Start Here
Because Jesus died for our sins and rose again, forgiveness and new life are available in Him. If you have never trusted Him, turn to Him in repentance and faith. If you belong to Him and have grown distant, bring Him your neglect, weariness, and resistance. Confess what needs confessing and receive His grace.
Today, “here” means your own heart.
Remain in Christ. Receive His Word. Respond in love.
Come close. Come alive.
Father, thank You for loving us. Jesus, teach us to remain in You. Give Your Word a deep place in our hearts, and help us respond with willing obedience. Produce fruit that brings You glory and renew our joy in You. Let revival start here. Amen.
